In a shock acquisition for many in the web hosting industry.  Landing Holdings, Inc  has acquired Hosting Zoom.  The deal also includes Reseller Zoom and modVPS, divisions of Hosting Zoom.

Existing customers of Hosting Zoom can now look forward to accessing compelling technologies from Landis Holding companies such as JaguarPC. Hosting Zoom, a privately held company also based in Houston, TX and best known for its clustered failover technology, believes the outcome immediately gives its customers additional benefits. One example is JaguarPC’s enterprise license for R1Soft Continuous Data Protection (CDP) which offers one of the highest levels of data protection in the industry for its hosting customers.

This is probably old news for a lot of users on this site, but I stumbled across this really handy little site - Is it down or is it just me? its a great little site for finding out whether your server is down for everyone or just you.

You simply enter in the desired url address, the program will let you know if the problem is at your computer’s end or a general problem with the website. The response is rapid and straightforward letting you know if “It’s just you” or whether is down for everyone.  Its a great tool for website owners to use before contacting their web hosting company’s support department.
